Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the former Managing Director of Radio Kano, Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Getso, who passed away today evening at his hometown after an illness.
This was contained in a condolence message issued by the governor’s Spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa in Kano on Saturday.
In the condolence message, Governor Yusuf said the late Adamu Getso was a distinguished broadcaster, seasoned administrator, and respected public servant who dedicated his life to the advancement of journalism, public enlightenment, and the promotion of societal values through the media.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf said that the deceased distinguished himself through his honesty, professionalism, and unrelentless commitment to public service, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues, government officials, and members of the public.
The Governor recalled that before his appointment as Managing Director of Radio Kano, the late Adamu Getso served the same capacity at the then CTV 67 Television now ARTV between 2000 and 2003, where he made remarkable contributions to the growth and development of television broadcasting in Kano State and beyond.
Governor Yusuf further noted that the deceased later served as Helsman of Radio Kano between 2011 and 2015, during which he provided exemplary leadership and implemented initiatives that strengthened the station’s position as one of the leading public broadcasting organizations in Northern Nigeria.
On behalf of the Government and people of Kano State, the Governor extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the management and staff of Radio Kano, ARTV, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), and all those affected by this sad loss.
While praying for the repose of his soul, Governor Yusuf beseech Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, reward his good deeds with Aljannatul Firdaus, and grant his family, friends, former colleagues, and the entire media community the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
