An aspirant for the Dukku/ Nafada Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, Hon. Umar Ahmed Sulaiman Nafada, has formally withdrawn from the race and declared total support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus candidate, Hon. Jamilu Shabewa.
A statement signed by the DG press affairs Gombe State government house Ismaila Uba Misilli said Hon. Umar Nafada announced his decision during a visit to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, earlier today at the Government House, Gombe.
The former member of the House of Representatives, who had earlier purchased nomination form to contest in the APC primaries, said his decision to withdraw was guided by his commitment to the party unity and the overall progress of Dukku/ Nafada Federal Constituency and Gombe State at large.
He pledged full loyalty to the leadership direction of Governor Inuwa Yahaya and expressed complete support for all the consensus arrangements reached by the party across the state, including those concerning the governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State Assembly positions.
According to him, “Power belongs to Almighty Allah who gives it to whomever He wills. I have therefore surrendered to the will of Allah and wholeheartedly declare my support for our brother, Hon. Jamilu Shabewa, in the interest of the progress, unity and development of our constituency and the state.”
Hon. Nafada also threw his weight behind the emergence of Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as the APC consensus governorship candidate, describing him as a humble, experienced and visionary leader capable of sustaining the developmental momentum established by Governor Inuwa Yahaya.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya warmly received the former lawmaker and commended his statesmanship, sacrifice and commitment to party unity.
The governor assured Hon. Nafada of his respect and appreciation, noting that his decision to place the collective interest of the party and the state above personal ambition demonstrates exemplary leadership and patriotism.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya reiterated his administration’s commitment to fairness, inclusiveness and the continued advancement of democratic values, peace and development across Gombe State.
