The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Riliwan Disu, psc (+), NPM, today convened a strategic briefing with members of the Force Management Team, senior commanders, and key stakeholders at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

Addressing the Senior Officers of the Nigeria Police Force, IGP Disu charged officers to uphold the highest standards of due diligence and professionalism in safeguarding the nation.

A statement signed by force public relations CSP Aniete Okokon Edem Iniedu, force headquarters Abuja said he commended the tactical gallantry demonstrated by operatives nationwide in countering banditry and violent crime, citing the successful hostage rescue operation in Oyo State as a landmark example of operational excellence.

Turning to upcoming electoral duties, the IGP outlined security measures for the Osun State off-cycle gubernatorial election. He specifically directed the Commissioner of Police for Osun State, alongside those of neighboring commands, to fortify border security and deploy critical operational assets well in advance to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and violence-free environment for voters.

Addressing administrative integrity, IGP Disu issued a firm warning against unauthorized case transfers and unnecessary interference in ongoing investigations. He emphasized that such unethical practices severely compromise investigative outcomes, undermine public confidence, and jeopardize the administration of justice. The meeting further evaluated robust operational strategies to curb the rising incidents of organized crime and critical infrastructure vandalism across the country.

To boost institutional transparency and strengthen community relations, the IGP highlighted an upcoming executive workshop for all Commissioners of Police, themed “Enhancing Strategic Communication, Media Relations, Thought Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, and Public Relations Excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.”

In his closing remarks, IGP Disu urged all personnel to intensify their efforts in fulfilling the Force’s mandate to protect lives and property. He also expressed sincere appreciation to the Nigerian public, acknowledging that timely, actionable intelligence provided by citizens remains a vital contribution to successful police operations across the nation.
