The International Human Rights Protection Service Forum has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Nigerian Army in the areas of Civil-Military dialogue, human rights, intelligence gathering and other support programmes.
A statement signed by Major OI Adenegan Acting Director Information Management Army Headquarters Department of Civil -Military said the Special Envoy to West Africa of the International Human Rights Protection Service Forum, Ambassador Dr Charles Omini, stated this on Friday, 14 August 2026, when he led a delegation of the organisation on a visit to the Department of Civil-Military Affairs, Army, at Army Headquarters Annex A, WU Bassey Barracks, Asokoro.
The delegation was received by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Army, Major General Musa Awwal Etsu-Ndagi, on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaib.
Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Omini commended the Department of Civil-Military Affairs for its numerous programmes aimed at bridging the gap between the Nigerian Army and the civil populace.
He further stated that the organisation was willing to collaborate with the Nigerian Army in Civil-Military dialogue, strengthening the capacity of the Department of Civil-Military Affairs for certification in human rights, intelligence gathering and support programmes to the military.
In the same vein, Ambassador Omini expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaib, for what he described as commendable leadership that had resulted in numerous victories against insurgents and other criminals in the country.
Responding, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Army, Major General Musa Awwal Etsu-Ndagi, thanked Ambassador Omini for recognising the non-kinetic activities of the Nigerian Army and the existing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army and the civil populace.
Major General Etsu-Ndagi further noted that Civil-Military Relations and collaboration between the Nigerian Army, Civil Society and Non-Governmental Organisations had assisted the Nigerian Army in achieving significant success in its internal security operations.
He urged Nigerians to see the Nigerian Army as their own and as a people’s Army, adding that the Nigerian Army remained open to future collaboration.
