On 3rd April, 2026, at about 0600 hours, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Dan Magaji Division, Zaria, received credible information that a number of suspected stolen cows were sighted at Kufena Unguwan Fulani.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the DPO mobilized a team of officers and strategically laid ambush at identified locations, which led to the successful arrest of two suspects, namely:
Abdulkadir Haruna ‘M’, aged 30 years, of Soba LGA
Buhari Hassan ‘M’, aged 25 years, of Giwa LGA.
During the operation, a total of twenty (20) rustled cows were recovered from the suspects.
A statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Mansur Hassan on behalf of the state commissioner of police Muhammad Rabiu said investigation is ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate and to ensure the suspects are prosecuted accordingly.
In the same vein, on 1st April, 2026, at about 2100 hours, a team of operatives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted on credible information received from a Good Samaritan, a driver, who reported that some individuals attempted to coerce him into delivering a sack containing suspected items concealed in white corn to a destination in Katsina State.
Acting swiftly on the information, the operatives intercepted and searched the sack, leading to the recovery of two hundred (200) rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed within.
Further investigations lead to the arrest of two suspects at Yankara Katsina State, namely, Muhammad Salisu 30 years and Isah Audu 40 years all from Zamfara as the receivers of the Ammunitions. Both suspects confessed to having been receiving the ammunition for bandits.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, psc, mni, urged livestock owners and residents, especially in rural communities, to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movement of persons or livestock to security agencies.
He emphasized that cattle rustling remains a serious threat to livelihoods and community peace, assuring that the Command will continue to intensify intelligence-led operations to track and dismantle criminal networks involved in the act.
