The Kaduna State police Command has reiterated its commitment to the fight against criminals and criminals activities across the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu Yusuf stated this while briefing newsmen on the achievements recorded by the command in the last two weeks in the state.
He explained that in line with this,men of the command had on 21st July, 2026, at about 4:00 hours, a good Samaritan reported to the Police that one Aisha Barau (female, 20 years old) of Ramin Kura Village was found in possession of suspected counterfeit United States dollar notes and was attempting to exchange them for Nigerian currency.
The CP said Acting promptly on the information, police operatives arrested the suspect,and during interrogation, she confessed that the counterfeit currency had been given to her by Abdullahi Muhammad (male, 55 years old) and Danbala Jibrin (male, 57 years old), both of Ramin Kura Village, for conversion into Nigerian currency, further investigation led to the arrest of several other members of the syndicate they will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Similarly CP Muhammed Rabiu said on 25th July, 2026, at about 2:30 hours, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of a gunrunning syndicate, launched a well-coordinated operation that led them to Jos, Plateau State, where they successfully apprehended three suspects identified as Luka Samuel (38 years), John Paul (37 years), and Musa Elisha (28 years).
He maintained that during the operation, the suspects were found in possession of two locally fabricated pistols, on interrogations they confessed to have been working with some of the bandits as their arms and ammunition suppliers.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with useful information aimed at identifying and apprehending other members of the syndicate as well as dismantling the network supplying illegal firearms to criminal elements.
The Command has also, on 24th July, 2026 after months of painstaking surveillance, intelligence gathering, and monitoring of suspected bandit activities, at about 0130 hours a combined team of operatives from the Anchau Division and members of the Yan Sa Kai carried out a well-coordinated operation in the outskirts of Kargi Village, leading to the arrest of one Abdullahi Mohammed alias “Aala”, aged 34 years.
Muhammad Rabiu Yusuf stated that during preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed to being one of the masterminds behind several kidnapping incidents in Kuzuntu Village, Ikara Local Government Area, as well as other parts of Kano State.
He also admitted to participating in the killing of two members of the Yan Sa Kai during an attack carried out last year
Further investigation led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and five rounds of live ammunition linked to the suspect.
Additionally, on 24th July, 2026, at about 1700 hours, a report was received that a Toyota Sienna had been stolen from the premises of a Juma’at Mosque in Ungwan Rimi, Kaduna.
Upon receipt of the report, operatives attached to the Anti-Car Theft Section immediately commenced an intelligence-led investigation. Through swift tracking and coordinated efforts, the stolen vehicle was traced to Zaria, where one Mohammed Shehu ‘M’ was arrested in possession of the vehicle.
During interrogation, the suspect made useful confessions which led detectives to the arrest of another suspect, Zakari Abubakar, who specializes in the fabrication of duplicate vehicle keys used by car thieves to steal vehicles.
The recovered Toyota Sienna has been secured, while efforts are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s activities and apprehend other members of the criminal network.
