An aspirant for the Kano Central Senatorial seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress(APC),Dr. Mohammed Musa Zango, has pledged to fast track the completion of the Ajaokuta -Kaduna-Kano(AKK) gas project,if elected.

Dr.Zango, a former staff of the NNPC, made the pledge while declaring his intention to contest for the Kano Central Senatorial position,on Sunday.

According to him,he was among those that started the project while he was in service, but that work on the facility slowed down after he had exited the NNPC.

“If elected as the next Senator to represent Kano Central Senatorial District,I would work for the speedy completion of the AKK gas project so that the people Kano will reap its immense benefits,” the aspirant said.

Such benefits he said, include the availability of gas which would enable the various moribund industries in Kano roar back to life and generate employment for the people of the area, especially the youth.

Furthermore,he said, the AKK gas project would bring cheaper gas to serve as a veritable alternative to petrol, thus easing the hardships being faced by motorists due to the high prices of the commodity.

Zango, then commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his transformative programmes which he said, had been positively impacting the lives of the people of the state.

He cited examples of such laudable initiatives to include urban renewal, education revival, healthcare, settlement of retirees’ pensions and payment of death benefits to families of deceased civil servants.

He also lauded the Governor’s Kano First Agenda which puts the interests of Kano State and its citizens first, and which according to him, tallied with his 7-point agenda for the Kano Central Senatorial zone.

The aspirant said his agenda included strong representation for Kano Senatorial district at the Senate which involved using all his knowledge, powers, network and above all, the Grace of Allah,to bring development to the area.

“I therefore declare my intention to contest for the Kano Central Senatorial seat and I hereby join His Excellency Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to work for our collective victory in delivering Kano to the APC, come 2027 general elections,” he added.
