A frontline governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe, Alhaji Kashim Musa-Tumsah, aka KMT, has donated a 16 KVA solar-powered generator to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) secretariat in the state.
Alhaji Rajab Mohammed, the state NUJ Chairman, stated this while inspecting the installation of the facility in Damaturu.
He said the aspirant kept his promise to provide power at the press centre for its day-to-day operations.
“ When he came to Damaturu for his political engagement a couple of weeks ago, he promised to support us with a solar powered system.
“ To God be the glory, he fulfilled his promise and this is one of the qualities of a good leader,” Mohammed said.
The chairman thanked the aspirant for the donation which, he said, would address the challenge of insufficient electricity at the secretariat and its multi-purpose hall.
Our correspondent reports that Musa-Tumsah, a development advocate, was at the secretariat to parley with journalists during the engagement, when he discovered that a gasoline generator powering the facility was overwhelmed.
He immediately promised to rescue the situation, noting that information dissemination is impossible without electricity to power gadgets and electrical equipment used by the journalists
