    Lutheran varsity : Governor Mutfwang urge Govts, Stakeholders to invest in quality education

    Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has urged the federal and state governments and other stakeholders to invest heavily in education as a quickest way to addressing the all forms of insecurity challenges bedeviling the country.

    Governor Mutfwang made his position public at the commissioning of a state of the art digital library and administrative complex built and donated by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF Boss Kida Mustapha to the new Lutheran University of Nigeria(LUN) Demsa, in Adamawa state calling other well meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture.

    Mutfwang,who was the chairman of the occasion held on Friday at the University site in Demsa local government area said that education remains a crucial tool for transforming lives of the younger generation and building a prosperous society.

    While commending former SGF Mustapha for the personal intervention to the institution,he called on the government to address issue of Almajiri system of education and ensure the children loitering on the streets are taken off by providing them access to quality education.

    Mutfwang described “Boss Mustapha” as a source of blessings to Adamawa citizens charging the University authority to ensure the institution serves people of different divide for the purpose of quality education pursuance.

    Earlier in his welcome remarks,Archbishop of LCCN, Most Rev. Musa Panti Filibus, explained that, the goal of establishing the university was rooted in the LCCN church’s longstanding commitment to human and educational development.

    Archbishop Filibus told the gathering that, the university was established between 2019 and 2023, with the objective to promote academic excellence and produce leaders of integrity and to focus on education, skills acquisition, and employment creation, with the ambition of creating a world-class institution capable of producing intellectuals and professionals while contributing to efforts at addressing challenges confronting young people.

    In his remarks, Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri viewed LUN as another important chapter in the church’s contribution to society reflecting commitment, service, togetherness and human development.

    Governor Finitri stated that Boss Mustapha has been a team player in the development of Nigeria and his home state by providing this edifice for seeking knowledge which remains a critical foundation for the country’s young stars development,.

    Governor Fintiri encouraged the leadership of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) to maintain high academic standards in the University, emphasising the need for academic excellence, integrity, and responsible leadership.

    He noted that the institution could become a gateway for knowledge, research, and human capital development with a lasting impact on generations yet unborn.

    “Choosing to celebrate a milestone birthday through an investment in education is worthy of commendation because the edifice would serve as an important component of the proposed university, providing an environment conducive to research, learning, and innovation”. Governor Finitri maintained.

    In his response, the celebrant and former SGF Mustapha appreciated all for turning on to celebrate with him stressing that he felt to give modest contributions to investing in education which would benefit many people in the society.

    Our Correspondent reports that the event formed part of activities marking Mustapha’s 70th birthday anniversary.
