The Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, says the Management of the institution remained fully committed to sustaining efforts at improving the welfare of staff.

This is because a motivated workforce, according to the Vice-Chancellor, is indispensable to the attainment of excellence.

This was contained in a statement from the public affairs directorate office of the Vice Chancellor issued to newsmen.

Prof Ahmed spoke at the 2025 ABU Reward and Recognition Ceremony for outstanding staff, service delivery units, and others that was held on Thursday, 14th May, 2026.

He said the university already took several measures that included the upward review of travel allowances and enhancement of spending limits for various units of the university.

These interventions, according to him, were intended to improve operational efficiency and support staff productivity.

“We are determined to continue exploring additional avenues for staff support and welfare enhancement within the limits of available resources”, he also said.

The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, called on all staff to continue to work together in the interest of the university by remaining committed to excellence, integrity, innovation, and service.

He congratulated the award recipients and stressed that the recognitions would inspire them to do even more in addition to motivating others.

Prof Ahmed explained that the 156 awardees represented only a fraction of the many hardworking and committed individuals across the university who would ordinarily qualify for recognition.

He also said the celebration was not only for the achievement of a few individuals but also for the product of the collective effort, resilience, and commitment of every staff member.

The Vice-Chancellor appreciated every staff member for the hard work, sacrifices, loyalty, and belief in the vision of the university.

Prof Ahmed stressed that all staff must also remain conscious of the numerous challenges confronting the university.

The Vice-Chancellor however said he would remain confident that with the unity, sincerity of purpose, discipline, and collective commitment they would overcome the challenges.
