Team LAGBAJA emerged champions of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2026 Polo Tournament held on Saturday 4 July 2026 in Port Harcourt, reinforcing the commitment of the Nigerian Army to fostering teamwork, resilience and esprit de corps as critical enablers of operational effectiveness.
A statement signed by Colonel Appolonia Anele Acting Director army public relations said the tournament forms part of the activities commemorating the 163rd Anniversary of the Nigerian Army, reflecting the Service’s enduring emphasis on physical fitness, healthy competition and camaraderie as essential attributes for a professional and combat-ready force capable of meeting contemporary national security challenges.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, presented the championship trophy to Team LAGBAJA at the conclusion of the tournament, commending the participants for exhibiting discipline, determination and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
The NADCEL 2026 Polo Tournament highlights the Nigerian Army’s holistic approach to building a highly motivated and mission-focused force by promoting cohesion, leadership and excellence among personnel in support of its constitutional responsibility of safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
