The Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (NAEME) Corps under the leadership of the Commander Corps of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (CCEME) Major General Adeyinka Ayodeji Adereti has reaffirmed its readiness to provide the necessary support and cooperation to the German Technical Advisory Group (GTAG) towards the continued development of the Armed Forces Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics School.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Oiza Mercy Ehinlaye Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers said the assurance was given during a courtesy visit by the GTAG to Headquarters NAEME at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment Giri-Abuja, on Tuesday 22 September 2026.
The visit formed part of ongoing engagements between the NAEME Corps and the GTAG, particularly against the backdrop of the relocation of the School to Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment Giri-Abuja. The engagement provided an opportunity for both parties to review ongoing areas of cooperation and identify practical ways through which the Corps could facilitate and support the activities of the German technical advisers.
Speaking during the engagement, the CCEME Maj General Adeyinka Ayodeji Adereti appreciated the GTAG for its continued commitment and technical assistance to the Nigerian Army, particularly in the area of mechatronics training and capacity development. He noted that the Corps highly valued the existing relationship and was prepared to provide the necessary institutional support to enable the German team effectively carry out its advisory and training responsibilities.
He also assured the GTAG that NAEME would ensure the smooth relocation of the Mechatronics School as planned, adding that the Corps would work closely with the German advisers to provide the required support for the establishment and effective functioning of the School at its new location.
He further stated that the Corps was prepared to deepen its collaboration with the GTAG by providing the necessary cooperation, facilities and personnel support required for the successful implementation of agreed activities. He noted that the partnership remained important to the development of the technical capabilities of the Nigerian Army. The CCEME also acknowledged the broader relationship between the Nigerian Army and the German technical authorities, stressing the importance of sustaining the partnership through practical engagements that would enhance technical knowledge and capacity within the Army.
Earlier, the Team leader of the GTAG Lt Col Bernarde briefed the CCEME and senior officers on the purpose of the visit and the team’s areas of engagement and the possible ways that the NAEME can assist in providing a conducive environment and the necessary institutional support for the GTAG to effectively discharge its technical advisory responsibilities in support of the Nigerian Army.
Highpoints of the events were the exchange of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book and a group photograph.
