The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to modernization and enhanced operational effectiveness through its participation at the LAAD Security & Defence Exhibition 2026, held in São Paulo, Brazil. Representing the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of Policy and Plans, Air Vice Marshal AY Abdullahi, led the NAF delegation to the prestigious event, which featured official delegations from over 75 countries and more than 600 exhibiting brands, underscoring its global relevance. The engagement reflects the Service’s sustained drive to deepen strategic partnerships, leverage emerging defence technologies, and strengthen its readiness to address evolving security challenges.

At the exhibition, the NAF delegation engaged with leading global defence manufacturers and industry experts across key capability areas, including counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS), precision-guided munitions, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems, as well as advanced training and simulation solutions. These interactions were complemented by technical discussions focused on system integration, fleet sustainment, and capability enhancement across critical NAF platforms, ensuring alignment with contemporary operational demands and global air power trends.

In today’s complex security environment, the importance of advanced technology and strong defence partnerships remains paramount to mission success. Insights gained from LAAD 2026 are expected to further enhance fleet serviceability, improve mission effectiveness, and strengthen Nigeria’s air defence architecture. The participation underscores the NAF’s commitment to building a modern, mission-ready, and adaptable air force capable of safeguarding national airspace and effectively supporting joint operations, while advancing innovation and operational readiness in defence of the nation.
