Governor Radda Assures Students of Continued Support for Education and Youth Development
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has received the endorsement of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone A, for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his re-election bid in the 2027 General Elections.
A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammed, chief press secretary to the Governor said the endorsement was made on Thursday at the Government House, Katsina, after NANS leaders and representatives of various student unions staged a solidarity walk in support of President Tinubu and Governor Radda.
Thanking the students for their support, Governor Radda said the endorsement reflected their confidence in the efforts of both the Federal and Katsina State Governments to improve education and create opportunities for young people.
“First of all, I would like to appreciate you for this solidarity walk in support of the candidature of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President in 2027, as well as my re-election as Governor of Katsina State,” Governor Radda said.
The Governor described President Tinubu as a student-friendly President, noting that his administration had created opportunities for students, particularly those from less-privileged backgrounds, to access higher education.
“We are grateful to him. He is a student-friendly President who gives opportunities to the less privileged to attend institutions of higher learning. This effort alone is enough to earn the support of Nigerian students,” he said.
Governor Radda said his administration would continue to prioritise education and student welfare, stressing that he was himself a product of the public education system.
“I have never attended a private school. I attended public schools from primary school in Radda up to where I am today. I am a product of public education, and I will continue to do everything humanly possible to support students to have opportunities to become what they aspire to be,” he stated.
He urged the students to remain united, support one another and contribute to the development of their communities after graduation.
“All I am asking you to do is to support one another, love one another and support government efforts to address the insecurity affecting our people. We really need your support and your prayers,” Governor Radda said.
The Governor also encouraged students to remember the younger generation after completing their studies by helping others access opportunities and build better futures.
“After you finish your studies, look back and see how you can help lift the younger generation towards greater prosperity,” he added.
Governor Radda assured the students that his administration would continue to implement programmes and projects aimed at improving the lives and future prospects of the people of Katsina State.
“As long as I remain Governor of the state, I will continue to do my part. I will continue to bring programmes and projects that will help the people of Katsina State,” he said.
Earlier, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Hon. Muhammad Nuhu Nagaske, commended NANS Zone A and other student unions for organising the solidarity walk.
Nagaske said the event provided an opportunity for students from different institutions to come together, network, learn and promote unity.
“We are here this morning for a solidarity walk. We started the walk and ended it here at Government House. We sincerely appreciate the student leaders for initiating this platform for students in the state to network, learn, innovate and engage in healthy competition,” he said.
He thanked Governor Radda for his continued support for students and for creating opportunities that promote education, skills development and student welfare.
“We thank Your Excellency immensely for the good things you have been doing for our students. We also appreciate you for making time to meet with the students despite your busy schedule,” Nagaske said.
Also speaking, the Secretary of NANS, North-West Zone, Comrade Lawal Isah, said the student community gathered to formally express its support for President Tinubu and Governor Radda ahead of the 2027 elections.
He said students in Katsina had benefited from the Radda administration’s education-focused policies, including bursary allowances, scholarships, improved school infrastructure, equipment and better learning facilities.
“The Katsina student community is among the major beneficiaries of your positive educational policies. We have benefited from increased bursary allowances, scholarships, construction of smart schools, provision of equipment and laboratory facilities, as well as improved security around our institutions,” Lawal said.
He presented letters of endorsement to Governor Radda for his re-election and to President Tinubu for continuity in 2027, while also presenting a letter of appreciation to the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters.
Lawal appreciated the Governor and other government officials for their support for student-oriented programmes and described Governor Radda as a student-friendly governor.
He pledged the continued support of the student community for programmes aimed at advancing education, youth development and economic opportunities.
The solidarity walk and rally brought together student leaders and representatives of various student associations and institutions across the state.
The event was attended by the Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Turaji; members of the Katsina State Executive Council; and other senior government officials.
