The Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) Apapa Zone has paid a courtesy visit to the Commander Corps of Signals (CCS), Major General Mohammed Abdullahi, at Murtala Mohammed House, Headquarters Nigerian Army Signals, on 28 July 2026.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Shittu,Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Nigerian Army Signals said the visit was led by its Coordinator, Mrs Abisat Mohammed Abdullahi.
Speaking during the visit, Mrs Abdullahi congratulated the CCS on his well deserved appointment, and achievements recorded, while appreciating his continued support to the association. She described NAOWA as a philanthropic organisation committed to improving the welfare of Nigerian Army (NA) families, barracks and neighbouring civilian communities through humanitarian interventions, including support to widows, medical reception stations/clinics, orphanage homes and skill acquisition programmes.
The Coordinator stated that the association’s priority projects for 2026 are aimed at strengthening its humanitarian mandate and creating sustainable sources of income. These include establishing a bakery, a crèche/school, sachet and bottled water production facilities, skill acquisition centres, and expanded empowerment programmes for NAOWA and Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA) members and their children. She added that the association remains committed to its annual welfare programmes and appealed to the CCS and other commanders for support to actualise the projects, expressing confidence that such collaboration would further improve the welfare of soldiers’ families and enhance morale.
In his response, Major General Abdullahi thanked the Coordinator and members of NAOWA Apapa Zone for the visit and commended the association’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of NA families. He noted that initiatives such as the proposed bakery and crèche are strategic investments that would positively impact the well-being of personnel and their families.
The CCS further stated that the request for land would be carefully considered in line with the Headquarters’ master plan, operational requirements and administrative procedures. He advised the association to submit a detailed proposal for assessment and assured them of his support within existing regulations and available resources.
Major General Abdullahi reaffirmed his commitment, alongside other commanders, to supporting NAOWA Apapa Zone in achieving its humanitarian objectives. He urged the association to sustain its laudable efforts and expressed optimism for stronger collaboration in advancing the welfare of NA families and the wider community.
The visit ended with a presentation of souvenirs and group photographs.
