The Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) has once again reinforced its growing reputation as a center of excellence in military communication and strategic information management, as former Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General John Agim, lauded the institution for providing an enabling environment that promotes quality learning and professional military education.
A statement signed by Captain Christian Onyemachi training officer, Nigerian army school of public relations and information said Brigadier General Agim made the commendation during the graduation ceremony of students of the Advanced Public Relations Course held at Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium, Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Agim described the institution’s infrastructure and academic atmosphere as a critical foundation for effective learning and capacity building. He emphasized that the conducive environment created by the school has continued to equip military personnel with the knowledge and practical skills needed to thrive in the ever-evolving information and communication landscape.
Addressing the graduating students, the Gen Agim noted that graduation should not be viewed as the end of an academic journey but rather the beginning of greater responsibilities and opportunities. According to him, the knowledge acquired during the course would place them in strategic positions where they would be expected to shape narratives and influence information dissemination within their various formations and units.
He urged the graduands to carry the values and standards of the institution wherever they may be posted, stressing the importance of serving as worthy ambassadors of NASPRI and the DAPR at large.
General Agim also urged the current leadership of the institution to sustain progress by maintaining close collaboration with former commandants and experienced stakeholders. He emphasized that continuous engagement and exchange of ideas among present and past leadership would foster innovation and contribute significantly to the future growth and success of the school.
In his graduation remarks, the Acting Commandant of NASPRI, Lt Col Shuaib Umar, applauds the D APR for the constant strategic guidance and support.
He congratulated the graduating students for their impressive performances throughout the duration of the programme and commended their dedication, discipline and resilience, noting that the course was both rigorous and carefully designed to meet contemporary demands within military public relations and information management.
Lt Col Umar expressed confidence that the graduands had been adequately equipped to contribute positively within the increasingly dynamic and competitive information environment.
He noted that narratives have become powerful tools in shaping public opinion and influencing perceptions, adding that the Nigerian Army places high value on effective information management and strategic communication in achieving its operational objectives.
The Acting Commandant also used the opportunity to express profound appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his unwavering support and commitment towards enhancing standards in NASPRI.
He equally extended gratitude to the Commander of TRADOC and the Chief of Training (Army) for their continued support, guidance and contributions toward the growth and development of the institution.
Earlier in the event, the Chief Instructor of the school, Major Nureni Alimi, presented the course appraisal and expressed satisfaction with the students’ conduct, discipline and overall performance during their studies.
The event attracted several distinguished guests and dignitaries from within and outside the military community, including former Commandant of NASPRI, Col Mustapha Anka (Rtd), the representative of the Managing Director of Armed Forces Radio, a friend of the school, Mr. Paul April Papel, Dr Aishat Abdulrauf from Faculty of Communication Studies University of Abuja.
The ceremony reached an exciting climax with the presentation of certificates to graduating students, recognition awards for outstanding participants who distinguished themselves during the course, presentation of souvenirs to guests and dignitaries, as well as a group photography session that captured memorable moments from the occasion.
