The President of Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing reconstruction work at the Bako Kontagors Memorial Stadium Minna.
A statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim chief press secretary to the Governor said he stated this when he led a delegation from the NFF on an inspection tour of the Stadium along with the Niger State governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago.
Alhaji Gusau said the decision to inspect the stadium is to ensure that the necessary measures are in place in order to meet the standard required of hosting Nigeria Professional League matches.
He said the Federation is happy with the efforts of the farmer governor in the renovation of the stadium and reassured that the Football governing body will give him all the necessary support to achieve set objectives.
In his response, Farmer governor Umaru Bago said, the Bako Kontagora stadium has outlived its usefulness and his administration remains determined to ensure that Niger Tornadoes does not play its home matches elsewhere.
Farmer Umaru Bago said, what the State government under his leadership is doing is unprecedented in the history of the State and will work closely with the NFF in ensuring that the target is achieved.
He also disclosed that plans are underway to acquire the houses around the stadium to give room for its expansion.
The farmer governor also led the delegation on an inspection tour of the football pitch at the Ahmadu Bahago Sports Complex where Niger Tornadoes football club is presently using as its training base.
