    NIGER STATE GOVERNMENT DECLARES 1,000 HECTARES OF LAND AS ECONOMIC ZONE IN GURARA LOCAL GOVERNMENT .

    Niger State Government has disclosed that it has declared 1,000 hectares of land as an economic zone in Diko, Gurara Local Government Area of the State .

    The economic zone, which has significant advantages for both the host community and the firm, is aimed at enhancing economic growth, attracting Foreign Direct Investment and creating job opportunities.

    A statement signed by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim said Niger State governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago during a consultative meeting with the stakeholders in the Diko community disclosed that several companies are expected to be established in the zone to give the community global visibility.

    Farmer Umaru Bago said part of the initiative will see the establishment of 100 megawatts electric power company which will make Diko a power generating community and will provide the residents with uninterrupted power supply.

    The farmer governor said other companies for the production of vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and tyres will be established in the zone .

    The farmer governor reassured owners of land in the economic zone that they will be allocated the exact size of land elsewhere in addition to being duly compensated .

    He reaffirms the state government commitment to the overall wellbeing of residents of the state pointing out that, he is poised to make good use of the land mass available across the State for the growth and development of all.

    In their separate remarks, the deputy Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Afiniki Dauda, acting district head of Diko Alhaji Musa Suleiman Ijah, Chairman, Diko farmers Association Mr. Isuwa Yekwo as well as the President of Diko Community Development Association Mr. Obed Danlami all appreciated the farmer governor for his foresight in developing Diko community and reassured of their cooperation.

    The farmer governor had earlier paid a visit to the Palace of the Village head of Diko, Habila Maimako Kaura to reassure him of his plans to develop the community before going to inspect the dilapidated police station in Diko which he promised to renovate to enhance security.
