The Elerin of Erin-Ile, His Royal Majesty Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye Adetona I, has pledged the continued support of the people of Erin-Ile to the Nigerian Army in its efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities in Kwara South.
A statement signed by Major Ojo Ifedayo Adenegan Acting Director, Information ManagementArmy Headquarters, Department of Civil-Military Affairs, Abuja said the royal father made the pledge while delivering his vote of thanks on Day Three of the Nigerian Army Medical Outreach held in Erin-Ile, Kwara State. Oba Jimoh described the Nigerian Army as a friendly force that cares for and supports members of its host communities. He assured the Army that the people of Erin-Ile would continue to offer their prayers and support to the troops to enable them achieve greater successes in the region and across the nation.
The medical outreach is a continuation of the Department of Civil-Military Affairs’ medical outreach programme in Kwara South. The initiative is being conducted as part of the Nigerian Army’s non-kinetic activities aimed at strengthening civil-military relations and providing medical support to communities.
In his opening remarks, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shuaib, represented by the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Army, Major General Musa Awwal Etsu-Ndagi, appreciated His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Adebowale Adesoye, for attending the outreach alongside a large number of his high chiefs and members of the community.
Major General Etsu-Ndagi also expressed appreciation to the people of Erin-Ile for their continued support to the Nigerian Army. He urged them to sustain the support by providing timely and credible information that could assist the Nigerian Army in responding swiftly to criminal activities within their communities.
The medical outreach provided free medical services to over 500 beneficiaries. The services included medical consultations, dental treatment, counselling, laboratory services, general medical check-ups, free medications and the distribution of mosquito nets.
The Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, alongside the Elerin of Erin-Ile and his Queen, also conducted the symbolic administration of deworming medication to three children aged 10 years and below.
Other dignitaries at the event included community leaders, Navy Captain LK Jimoh (Rtd), Colonel Oladele Babajamu (Rtd), and Major Sam Adewumi (Rtd), among others.
