In continuation of the engagement between NILEST and Ethiopian Institute of Textiles and Fashion Technology (EiTEX), Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia, a strategic meeting was held today and many issues were discussed and resolved.
A statement from the DGs media team said the meeting was led by the Scientific Director of EiTEX and Director General of NILEST Professor Tamrat Tesfaye and Dr. Auwal Mustapha Imam Fnip respectively. The following were agreed:
1. NILEST can go ahead to start degree programmes in Leather Technology and Footwear Design and Innovations in affiliation with EiTEX, Bahir Dar University. EiTEX will award admissions, provide curriculum, vet examinations and at the end award certificates.
2. EiTEX and NILEST have agreed on staff exchange.
3. EiTEX and NILEST will be conducting joint research and publications.
4. EiTEX and NILEST can use each other’s facilities for training and industrial development of students.
5. EiTEX will award two (2) slots of scholarship every year to 2 Nigerians to study Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees or PhDs. at EiTEX.
The meeting ended with a colourful exchange of pleasantries and souvenirs as well as a joint lunch at Lake Tana. After which the NILEST team was taken on a boat ride round Lake Tana and River Nile
