Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), foiled an attack by terrorists in Kaduna State and rescued three kidnapped victims in Zamfara State during separate operations.

This was contained in a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, media information officer joint task force north west operation fansar yamma issued to newsmen.

On 10 September 2026, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on terrorist activities at Unguwan Gardago Village, Kaduna North Local Government Area, where terrorists robbed locals of motorcycles and mobile phones and abducted a civilian, whom they forced to guide their escape from the village. Troops swiftly responded, mounted an ambush along the terrorists’ withdrawal route and engaged them, forcing the terrorists to flee and abandon the motorcycles and other items looted from residents.

While conducting exploitation after successfully countering the attack , troops recovered three motorcycles, one PKT machine gun working mechanism, components of a pump-action firearm, among other items. Unfortunately, the abducted civilian was killed by the terrorists, and his body was subsequently recovered and handed over to his relatives.

Similarly, on 11 September 2026, troops of Sector 2 observed terrorists attacking a Canter vehicle along the Anka–Gummi Road. Troops responded swiftly to the incident and made contact with the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their victims and flee the area.

Troops subsequently rescued three kidnapped victims and recovered terrorist communication equipment.

The Joint Task Force appreciates members of the public for their continued support and urges them to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.

The Theatre Command remains committed to protecting the lives and property of the citizenry, while disrupting terrorist networks and denying them freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
