The Zamfara State Police Command has recorded a significant successes in its ongoing efforts to combat criminality across the state, with the arrest of suspected armed gang members and the recovery of dangerous weapons in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the operation was carried out on May 29, 2026, by operatives of the Command’s Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU), acting on credible intelligence.
According to the statement, the police successfully intercepted and arrested three members of an armed gang allegedly to have been terrorizing residents of the Kasuwan Daji area.
The suspects were identified as Ali Bahago of Danakulu via Kasuwan Daji, Hassan Dan Kure of Kasuwan Daji, and Dahiru Lawali of Gidan Ango.
The syndicate had reportedly been on the Command’s watchlist due to its involvement in various criminal activities within the area. Preliminary investigations revealed that the group is allegedly led by Ali Bahago, who has been linked to several criminal operations.
During the operation, one member of the gang was neutralized, while the three suspects were taken into custody while during subsequent search at the residence of the alleged gang leader led to the recovery of several firearms and other incriminating items.
Items recovered include one pump-action gun, one single-barrel gun, one fabricated G3 rifle, two Dane guns, four rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, nine pump-action cartridges, a handcuff chain, a locally made pistol, three Boxer motorcycles, and a locally made magazine.
The police stated that the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with efforts underway to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover additional weapons.
