The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully killed two bandits and safely destroyed an explosive device in separate operations in the state. Armed bandits had invaded the Funture area of Rugar Buda Village in Bungudu Emirate, shooting sporadically to terrorize residents, before police operatives and other security personnel swiftly mobilized to the scene and engaged them in a fierce gun duel.
This was disclosed in a statement by the police public relations officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, who noted that while two of the bandits were killed during the encounter, the remaining criminals fled into the surrounding forest with suspected gunshot wounds. He added that a 35-year-old vigilante member, Kabiru Auwal, sustained a fractured gunshot injury on his left hand during the gun battle and is currently responding to treatment at a hospital, while patrols have been intensified in the area to guarantee safety.
