The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr.Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga), had yesterday embarked on an extensive inspection tour of ongoing intervention projects across Zaria, all facilitated by the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, GCON.

A statement from the Office of the Chairman said the tour commenced at Amaru Modern Market, where the construction of additional shops, road networks, and drainage systems is progressing steadily. This intervention is set to boost commercial activities, improve accessibility, and enhance the overall business environment for traders and residents.

Engr. Jaga then proceeded to Dambo, the proposed site for the development of an International Grains Market, a modern abattoir, and an International Livestock Market. With contractors set to mobilize to the site, this landmark project is poised to transform Zaria into a major hub for agricultural processing and trade, creating employment opportunities and strengthening the local economy.

At the Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology (NILEST), the Chairman inspected the ongoing construction of a 250-bed capacity male and female hostel an important intervention aimed at improving student accommodation and promoting academic excellence.

The inspection continued in Nagoyi, where work is advancing on a Technology Incubation Centre and a modern ICT facility. These projects are designed to empower young people with digital skills, foster innovation, and position Zaria as an emerging hub for technology and entrepreneurship.

At Government Secondary School (GSS) Magajiya, Engr. Jaga assessed the newly completed and fully equipped modern examination hall, which will provide a conducive environment for students during examinations and significantly improve educational infrastructure.

The Chairman also visited Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, where multiple projects are ongoing, including the construction of facilities for the College of Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, a Sports Academy, and a Centre for Management and Development. These initiatives will greatly enhance the institution’s capacity for training, research, and human capital development.

The day’s activities concluded at Sleeprite Hotel, Dakace, where Engr. Jaga attended the grand finale of the 10-year anniversary celebration of the Tafiya da Gwaninka Youth Movement, reaffirming his commitment to youth engagement and community-driven initiatives.

We sincerely commend and appreciate the visionary leadership and unwavering commitment of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen, GCON, whose continued support and facilitation of these transformative projects are driving sustainable development and progress across Zaria and beyond.
