The Nigerian Army Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination 2026 has commenced in Jos, Plateau State. The Examination President and Commander Commander Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC NA), Major General Peter Malla, warned the candidates that there is no short-cut to success and that the sanctity and integrity of the examination process can never be compromised.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Felicia Daniel ,Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army said Major General Malla gave the charge on Sunday 4 October 2026 while addressing members of Directing Staff and 259 candidates.
According to him, a team of competent, experienced and dedicated members of the Examination Panel has worked assiduously to prepare fair, balanced and professionally demanding requirements drawn from comprehensive syllabi. The conduct of the examination aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s cardinal requirements for continuous military education in order to enhance the professional competence of Junior officers for command and staff appointments while positioning them for higher responsibilities.
Major General Malla announced that the examination will comply fully with the provision of the Nigerian Army Charter for Promotion Examinations 2022 (Revised), which the candidates are conversant with. He further enjoined the candidates to accord highest priority to the examination because it is mandatory for their career progression as it will form the basis for their selection to attend the Junior Command and Staff Colleges or Equivalents, within and outside Nigeria.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Host, General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and CommanderJoint Tadk Force Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Wunukhe Dangana, on behalf of officers and soldiers of the Division, warmly welcomed the Examination President, Members of Directing Staff and candidates to Jos while assuring that the Division will provide conducive environment for successful conduct of the examination.
Major General Malla concluded by assuring candidates of firm but fair assessment, urging them to approach the exercise with discipline, focus and dogged determination to succeed in a legally acceptable way.
