Good character and sound morals are the foundation of good leadership. Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna (Sardaunan Gombe) comes from a highly respected family rooted in education, enterprise, discipline, philanthropy and service to humanity.
His father, Alh. Isyaku Gwamna is a disciplinarian, philanthropist, businessman and Islamic leader. Growing up in such an environment helped shape Sardauna’s character and outlook on life. He values truth, keeps his word, respects trust and treats people with dignity and respect regardless of their status.
Yet, despite his distinguished background, Sardauna is neither arrogant nor given to displaying his privilege. He is humble, accessible and compassionate. From his upbringing, he inherited a strong sense of kindness, generosity, good human relations and responsibility towards others.
But good upbringing alone does not define him.
Sardauna has pursued education to different levels and is both a Phd holder and a Hafiz of the Qur’an. This combination of professional education and deep religious learning has shaped a man who understands that knowledge is more than certificates and titles. It must produce wisdom, discipline, good character, responsibility and service to society.
Perhaps, one of the clearest expressions of his character is his restraint. Sardauna is a man of few words. He does not indulge in unnecessary talk or political noise. When he speaks, he speaks with purpose. His composure, particularly in moments of intense political activity, reflects maturity, wisdom and a strong sense of responsibility.
For Sardauna, knowledge is not something to be advertised; it is something to be practised.
His conduct, decisions and relationships with people demonstrate the values he professes. He understands that education without character is incomplete, just as leadership without integrity cannot inspire lasting trust.
