…Gombe Governor Launches Akko North, West LCDA Secretariats; Commissions Key Roads, Secretariat Projects
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON has attributed the accelerating pace of development in Gombe State to the sustained support and goodwill of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging citizens to reciprocate the gesture through continued cooperation and unity.
A statement signed by the DG Press Affairs Gombe State government house Ismaila Uba Misilli said the governor made the remark during a series of project inaugurations and groundbreaking ceremonies across Akko Local Government Area, where he flagged off the construction of the Akko North and Akko West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) secretariats and commissioned key infrastructure projects.
He noted that the President’s responsiveness to the state’s requests has been instrumental in attracting federal interventions, citing the approval of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Kumo, as a clear demonstration of commitment to the people.
“It is because the President cares about our people that he continues to approve our requests. We must, therefore, return this goodwill with support and unity,” the governor stated.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremonies for the Akko North LCDA in Amada and the Akko West LCDA secretariat in Pindiga, Governor Inuwa Yahaya explained that all constitutional processes for the creation of the LCDAs were duly followed, noting that the proposal had passed first and second readings at the National Assembly.
He said the LCDA model was conceived to address population growth and promote inclusive governance, adding that the initiative would bring governance closer to the people while focusing on security, education, agriculture and healthcare.
During the tour, the governor also inspected the renovated Lamido Gona palace in Akko town, expressing satisfaction with the quality of work.
He also commissioned several road projects, including the 15-kilometre Mararraban Jabba-Sambo Daji-Pandi Kola-Gwaram-Garin Wada Road and the 17-kilometre Kumo-Bappah Ibrahima-Luggerewo-Papa Junction Road, which link multiple communities and enhance economic activities.
Governor Inuwa also inaugurated the Kumo township road network and the reconstructed Akko Local Government Secretariat, now upgraded to modern administrative standards.
While commissioning the 8-kilometre Kunji-Kidda-Panda road facilitated by Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, member representing Akko Federal Constituency, the governor noted that his administration had earlier constructed the Kuri-Lambam road in Yamaltu Deba LGA and pledged to extend the network to fully link the two LGAs.
He explained that the projects are part of a broader plan to connect rural communities, assuring that the remaining stretch would be completed to ensure seamless access between Akko and Yamaltu Deba.
“Our vision is to enhance interconnectivity in ways that improve security, education, healthcare and agriculture, while supporting livelihoods and raising overall living standards,” he said.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya called on residents, community leaders and stakeholders to sustain their support for ongoing development efforts, stressing that unity and cooperation remain essential for progress.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented projects and ensuring continuity of development projects in the state.
Earlier, in separate welcome addresses during the groundbreaking events, the Chairman of Akko Local Government Area, Hon. Muhammad Danladi Adamu, commended the governor for impactful service delivery. He noted that the establishment of additional LCDAs would deepen grassroots development
“The antics and boasts of detractors will not deter us from supporting you and the candidates you have anointed and presented under the APC,” he assured
The Director-General of the Joint Project Development Agency, Dr. Mahmud Yusuf, explained that the secretariat, originally built nearly five decades ago, had fallen into disrepair before its complete reconstruction and expansion.
He added that the LCDA secretariats in Akko North and West are the 11th and 12th out of 13 to be constructed across the state.
Speaking during the governor’s visit at his palace, the Lamido of Akko, HRH Alhaji Umar Muhammad Atiku, said several long-awaited projects had only been realized under the current administration, noting the improved road networks that have significantly reduced travel time.
Similarly, the Emir of Pindiga, HRH Muhammad Seyoji Ahmad, described the creation of new administrative structures as a long-awaited milestone and appealed for additional road infrastructure to support economic activities.
In his remarks, the Lamido Gona, HRH Umar Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, praised the governor for numerous development projects in the area, noting that the creation of the LCDA has strengthened inclusion and will boost grassroots development.
Across the communities visited, the governor was received by large crowds of supporters who turned out to express appreciation for the projects and the administration’s development drive.
