    Unicef, EU-SARAH initiative hands over medical equipment worth Millions to Ada mawa Govt.

    The United Nations Children’s Fund, Unicef and the European Union -Sarah Initiative has presented medical facilities and equipment worth Millions of Naira to the Adamawa state government to enhance health care delivery services in the state.

    Receiving the equipment on behalf of the state government, Commissioner of Health and Human Services,Alh.Chubado Muhammad Jada expressed gratitude to the partners for the intervention and support to the government constantly.

    Represented by the Permanent Secretary ,Pharm.Mathias Zira Bubanani at the hand over ceremony held at the Adamawa state Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA) on Monday, Muhammad said the equipment came at the right time and are meant for onward distribution to Primary Health Care facilities across the state.

    Muhammad said that the equipment are aimed at improving the quality of health care service delivery to communities and to strengthening the health system in the state.

    Mohammed maintained that the medical equipments would help greatly to reducematernal mortality and to enhance health care delivery in the communities at the primary health care(PHC) facilitiesurging residents to take advantage of the equipments accordingly.

    Speaking at the event,Dr.Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, Executive Chairman of ASPHCDA, applauded development partners for the intervention noting that the support is a necessity for the institutions to carry out their mandates and responsibilities to the people.

    Bashir assured partners of effective and efficient utilization of the equipment for the purpose intended directing various PHC Coordinators of LGAs to ensure the safety of the equipment and diligence in quality service delivery.

    In her remarks, the Agency’s Director of Community Health Services, Hajiya Rashida Tahir explained that the import ance of the equipment can never be over emphasized in the improvement of health care delivery services.

    Tahir said that the SBBC tools and equipment will enhance service delivery being rendered to antenatal mothers adding that health workers have been trained maximally to handle the drive.

    She also stressed the need for quality monitoring and evaluation to ensure maximum use, security, and service delivery to the people advising pregnant women to access the maternal maternity packages available at the PHC centers in the state.

    In a goodwill message, Unicef Health Specialist, Mr. Sayi Olusandi,said the deliberate effort by UNICEF is to strengthen the quality of care, hence the need to ensure safety and security of the equipment.

    Also representatives from NPHCDA, ESS Chairmen, PMOs, and UNFPA expressed appreciation for the support and advised on the efficient utilization of the equipment.

    Thereafter the medical tools and equipments were handed over to various heads of LGAs and PHCA respectively.team and participants subsequently handed over the medical equipment to LGAs and PHCA respectively.
