The Kebbi State Police Command has strongly condemned the repeated blockade of the Kebbi–Sokoto Federal Highway, following the incident of 23rd September 2026 and its recurrence on the 9th October 2026, which disrupted vehicular movement for approximately three hours.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations SP Bashir Usman said the blockade obstructed motorists, persons requiring emergency medical attention, and other members of the public from moving freely and conducting their lawful activities.

It’s said the Command considers such conduct unacceptable, as it contravenes traffic regulations and creates opportunities for criminal activities.

The Command urged aggrieved persons to channel their grievances through lawful means, including their elected representatives, traditional rulers, and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), rather than resorting to the unlawful obstruction of public highways.

The statement warned that any recurrence will attract appropriate legal action, with organisers and participants liable to investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.

The State Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, appealed to members of the public to act responsibly, respect the rights of fellow citizens, and refrain from any conduct that disrupts the free movement of persons and goods.

However it urged Parents and guardians to counsel their children and wards against participating in unlawful assemblies and to impress upon them the importance of respecting the law.

The Command reassures the public of its commitment to maintaining public safety and ensuring the uninterrupted movement of lawful road users, henceforth, the Command will not tolerate any blockage of road under any guise.
