    VC FUEZ Assures Igbo Students of Inclusivity, Equal Opportunities

    The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has assured members of the Igbo Students’ Association in the University of an inclusive and peaceful environment for all students, irrespective of tribe or any other affiliation.

    A statement signed by the VC media aide,Sani Lawal maqarphy said Prof. Bunkure gave the assurance when he received members of the Association who paid him a courtesy visit in his office. The delegation was led by the Dean, Students’ Affairs, Mal. Abdullahi Abdulkadir, alongside the Patron, Onyeka Nnamani, and the President, Prince Favour Iheukwumere.

    The Vice-Chancellor said the University is a cosmopolitan institution with students and staff from different ethnic backgrounds, noting that it has continued to enjoy relative peace and remains open to everyone. He added that Igbo students have remained peaceful and contributed to the harmonious atmosphere in the University.

    He encouraged the Association to work towards attracting more students of Igbo extraction to the University, assuring them of equal opportunities and a conducive environment for all.

    Prof. Bunkure thanked the students for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of their goodwill and sense of belonging to the University community.

    Earlier, the President of the Association, Prince Favour Iheukwumere, said the visit was to greet the Vice-Chancellor and seek his support for Igbo students, particularly in admission opportunities, parental guidance and support for the Association’s activities.

    The Patron of the Association, Onyeka Nnamani, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his kind words and warm reception.

    The Dean, Students’ Affairs, Mal. Abdullahi Abdulkadir, also appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for his accessibility to students and his commitment to promoting peaceful coexistence across the University.

    The President of the Students’ Representative Council, Comr. Yakubu Ibrahim Khalifa, and other students were also present during the visit.
