    VC FUEZ Charges BMC on Strict Procurement Process, Priority Intervention Areas

    The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has charged members of the University Budget Monitoring Committee (BMC) for the Needs Assessment Intervention Fund to ensure strict adherence to procurement procedures and uphold transparency, accountability, and due process in the implementation of intervention projects.

    A statement signed by the Sani Lawal media aide to the VC said the Vice-Chancellor gave the charge during the inauguration of the committee, constituted in line with approved guidelines for the administration and monitoring of intervention funds in Nigerian universities.

    Prof. Bunkure stated that the committee was established to strengthen accountability and ensure the effective utilization of intervention funds allocated to the University. He emphasized the need for strict compliance with procurement processes covering planning, advertisement, tendering, and contract awards.

    The committee is chaired by Babande Babakura Imam Esq., as Representative of the Governing Council, with Barr. M. S. Abubakar served as Secretary of the committee and Prof. Suleiman Balarabe, representing the Senate, while Mal. A. A. Galadima represents the University Congregation.

    Other members on the Committee include Dr. Comr. Uba Isma’ila Alhaji, representing the academic staff union; Comr. Lawal Umar, NAAT; Comr. Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman, NASU; Comr. Abdullahi Ibrahim Sarki, Senior Staff Union; and Comr. Yakubu Ibrahim, as Representative of the Students’ Representative Council.

    The committee is mandated to note allocations made to the University by the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC), advise Management on priority intervention areas, ensure compliance with procurement procedures, monitor fund utilization and project implementation, and collate periodic reports for submission to relevant authorities.

    Members of the committee expressed appreciation to the University Management and pledged to discharge their responsibilities diligently in line with the University’s developmental goals.
