Yobe State government has presented its Investment and Development agenda at the 2026 United Nations General Assembly meeting for strategic partnerships, international investment opportunities and development.
A statement signed by Malam Mamman Mohammed,DG Press and Media Affairs To The Governor said Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Mohammed Goje, said the mission was aimed at attracting international investments and investors in agriculture , renewable energy, mining, healthcare and youth-development opportunities.
“It is an opportunity to showcase Yobe’s natural resources, strategic location and youthful population into productive opportunities to facilitate employment and sustainable prosperity that would advance Yobe’s interests through global engagements” Gov. Buni said.
He explained that Yobe State has huge opportunities from its approximately 1.6 million hectares of arable land, abundant livestock resources, huge sesame seeds and gum-arabic deposits, and the strategic accessibility to Niger, Chad and the wider Sahelian market.
The State is equally presenting investment opportunities in soyabean, the four completed sesame seeds processing factories , and a modern livestock hub, as well as the designed to formalise expansion of the economic potential abound in the Potiskum, Buni, Geidam, Garin Alkali and other livestock markets.
“These opportunities are being promoted through a legal framework of a structured public-private partnership arrangements under the Yobe State Public-Private Partnership Law 2023, with the Yobe State Agency for Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion serving as the investors’ coordinating window” Buni said.
At the “Unstoppable Africa Forum”, the State government engaged Africa’s leading industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, on areas of partnership, investment in productive assets and professionally managed portfolios to generate sustainable income for widows, women and victims of conflict.
“This is to realize the government’s commitment to move its citizens beyond short-term solutions to a reliable and sustainable economic independence with a lasting financial resilience” he said.
The delegation also engaged the United Nations Youth Office to connect young people with funding, internships, professional networks, technology and practical platforms that will create meaningful opportunities within their communities.
It is gratifying that the engagement has opened discussions on Yobe State’s potential participation in a United Nations Youth Townhall scheduled for Heidelberg, Germany, and a proposed youth-development boot camp to exploit investment opportunities in education, skills development, enterprise and youth inclusion.Health Sovereignty, Peace and Youth Participation.
The Dr Goje-led delegation also participated in the Accra Reset launch of A Sovereign Future for Health, alongside prominent African leaders, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama
The high-level engagement focused on African ownership of health systems, domestic financing and stronger institutional capacity. Its objectives resonate with Governor Buni’s investments in healthcare infrastructure, service expansion, workforce development and the strengthening of Yobe State’s health system after years of insurgency.
At the African Union-European Union dialogue on Youth, Peace and Security, the Yobe delegation contributed to discussions on the Bujumbura Outcomes, generational leadership and meaningful youth participation in peacebuilding and governance.
