    ZARIA LOCAL GOVERNMENT HELD IT 16TH EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MEETING, DISCUSS KEY PRIORITIES.

    The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government, Engr.Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga), yesterday presided over the 16th Executive Council Meeting, where members of the Executive Council deliberated on key priorities aimed at driving sustainable development across the Local Government Area.

    It said the meeting served as a strategic platform to review the progress of ongoing projects, strengthen inter-departmental coordination, and consider new initiatives designed to accelerate socio-economic development, improve service delivery, and enhance the well-being of the people of Zaria.

    A major highlight of the meeting was the presentation by the Kaduna State Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Team, led by Malam Abbas Sani, on the World Bank-funded SAPZ Programme. During the presentation, the team emphasized the importance of collaboration and public awareness as the programme is set to transform agricultural value chains through the processing of maize, ginger, soybeans, and tomatoes.

    Speaking during the presentation, Engr. Jaga expressed delight that Zaria is among the nine Local Government Areas selected to benefit from the SAPZ Programme. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Zaria Local Government Administration to providing the necessary support and collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative for job creation, economic growth, and community empowerment.

    Following the Executive Council Meeting, the Chairman received the executives of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Law Society, led by its Chairman, Idris Sadiq Lawal, on a courtesy visit at the Chairman’s Office. Discussions focused on leadership, youth engagement, and strengthening collaboration between the Local Government and academic institutions.

    The Chairman also welcomed members of the PDP MAFITA Movement and the KAURA 100 Awareness Forum, who officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside hundreds of their supporters. The defectors declared their support for all APC candidates and pledged to work collectively with the party toward the continued development and progress of Zaria Local Government. Engr. Jaga commended their decision and assured them of an inclusive administration committed to serving all residents.

    Later in the day, Engr. Jaga paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Sa’adatu Soja, where he expressed his heartfelt sympathies and prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to forgive her shortcomings, grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, and comfort her family during this difficult time.

    The day’s activities concluded with a meeting between the Executive Chairman and the Malaman Khamsul Salawat (Darika and Izalah) in Tudun Wada, Zaria. The meeting centered on promoting peace, unity, religious harmony, and strengthening collaboration for the continued development of the Local Government
