    Zaria local Government Reaffirms Commitment To Partnership with ABU on Environmental sustainability.

    The Council Chairman, Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad (Jaga), has reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in promoting environmental sustainability and community development.

    A statement signed by the chief press secretary office of the chairman Galadima Ishaq said the Council Chairman was represented at the 2026 World Environment Day Symposium and Tree Planting by Hajiya Binta B. Mustapha, Director of Agriculture, Zaria Local Government.

    The event, held at Ahmadu Bello University, Samaru, Zaria, was chaired by the Chairman, Kaduna State Local Government Service Board, Professor Aminu Ladan Sharehu, OON, while the Madakin Zazzau, Alhaji Munir Jafaru, OFR, served as the Father of the Day.

    At the conclusion of the programme, 200 Kapok Tree (Ceiba pentandra) seedlings were presented to each of the selected Local Government Areas, namely Zaria, Sabon Gari, Giwa, Kudan, and Kubau, as part of efforts to promote afforestation, environmental conservation, and sustainable ecosystem restoration across Kaduna State.

    The Zaria Local Government Council commended Ahmadu Bello University for organizing the initiative and reiterated its commitment to partnering with the University and other relevant stakeholders in advancing environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development for the benefit of the people.
