Maiduguri’s heartbeat found a new rhythm today as Governor Babagana Umara Zulum commissioned the Post Office Flyover Bridge, the fourth in the series under this administration. More than concrete and steel, this bridge is a story of resilience, continuity and solidarity of the people of Borno.

For decades, the Post Office has been more than a building but a living landmark. It is Maiduguri’s nerve centre, a convergence point where lives intersect. From here, civil servants head towards the Musa Usman Secretariat, traders stream to the bustling Monday Market, travelers board buses at Borno Express and dignitaries make their way to Government House. It is a trijectory of human movement commerce, and culture.

Commissioning a flyover at this strategic hub is not just an infrastructural upgrade; it is a recognition of the Post Office’s role as the city’s living landmark.

The vision of a Post Office flyover was first muted during the Kashim Shettima administration. Today, Governor Zulum has turned that vision into reality, ensuring smoother traffic flow and easing the daily struggles of commuters. In doing so, he has symbolically built a bridge between the past, the present, and the future; a legacy that will support the continuity of leadership under Mustafa Gubio come the year 2027.

    A People-Centered Achievement

For the ordinary man, the bridge is more than a structure. It is relief from traffic hold-ups, faster access to markets and a boost to the ease of doing business. For the city, it is a feather in Zulum’s already crowded cap being testament to his people-centered governance that has consistently surpassed expectations and left many Nigerians in awe.

Every flyover constructed under his watch has been purposeful, but the Post Office Flyover stands out as one of the most deserving, touching every aspect of Maiduguri’s socioeconomic life.

As the bridge opens to traffic, it carries with it the weight of history and the promise of tomorrow. It is the flyover our forefathers dreamed of, one we now witness and one we will leave behind as legacy for our children.

Governor Zulum’s commissioning today is not just an infrastructural milestone; it is a symbolic ending to one chapter and the opening of another; a succession marked by continuity, prosperity and hope.

Thank you, Your Excellency Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, for building Borno back and better. Thank you for being people-centered. And thank you, readers, for sharing in this moment that connects the past to the present and supports the future prosperity of our state.
