Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim community in the state and beyond on the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Adha, also known as the “Festival of Sacrifice.”

Governor Zulum, who is currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, performing the Hajj pilgrimage, described Eid al-Adha as a solemn occasion for Muslims to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, selflessness, compassion, and devotion as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dauda Iliya, Zulum noted that the festive period serves as a reminder for Muslims to recommit themselves to supporting the less privileged and promoting the values of love, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.

The governor reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to sustaining peace and security across Borno State, particularly in resettled communities, while also strengthening support for displaced persons, refugees, and returnees.

“We will continue to work very closely with the military and other security agencies as well as volunteer forces to ensure peace and tranquility prevail in our communities. My administration’s commitment to security is second to none,” Zulum assured.

He further pledged to intensify efforts toward community resettlement and economic empowerment for vulnerable citizens.

“I want to assure you that more communities will be resettled before the end of our administration, Insha Allah. We will continue to roll out empowerment initiatives to vulnerable and displaced persons to become productive members of society,” he added.

Governor Zulum also reassured citizens of his administration’s resolve to complete ongoing developmental projects across the state before the expiration of his tenure.

The governor commended the leadership and members of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the peaceful and successful conduct of the party’s primary elections across the state.

“The recently conducted primary election by our great political party, the APC, from the state constituency to the presidential level, demonstrated unity and solidarity among aspirants, leaders, and members without any rancour, underscoring cohesion in the party,” he stated.

Governor Zulum called on citizens to continue praying for sustainable peace in Borno State and Nigeria at large, while also urging for peaceful conduct ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He wished Muslims in Borno State and beyond a peaceful and joyous Eid al-Adha celebration and Hajj Mabroor to Borno pilgrims in the holy land.
