Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, on Monday, joined other eminent Nigerians at the one-year remembrance ceremony held in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, paying glowing tribute to the late statesman for his commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North-East.
Speaking at the event in Abuja, Governor Zulum recalled that former President Buhari assumed office at a period when insecurity in the North-East had reached its peak, but demonstrated determination in tackling insurgency and restoring hope to affected communities.
The Governor noted that, as the Governor of Borno State, he had the privilege of working closely with the late President and could personally attest to Buhari’s genuine concern for the welfare and wellbeing of the people of the state.
Zulum observed that former President Buhari’s repeated visits to Borno at the height of the insurgency significantly boosted the morale of residents and inspired confidence among security personnel engaged in the fight against terrorism.
He described the late President as a leader defined by integrity, discipline, and patriotism, whose dedication to national service and commitment to Nigeria’s development would remain a lasting legacy.
Governor Zulum added that former President Buhari’s contributions to the nation’s unity, progress, and stability have secured him an enduring place in Nigeria’s history, noting that his leadership and sacrifices would continue to inspire future generations.
