Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has assured the Kano State Council of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) of his administration’s full support towards ensuring the successful participation of the state’s delegation at the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) scheduled to hold in Abuja in November.
The Governor gave the assurance today when he received the executive members and other members of the Kano State Council of NIPR at the Government House, shortly after the council and other public relations practitioners in the state concluded a Road Walk Show organised as part of activities preparatory to the forthcoming international forum.

Represented by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House, Kano, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the state government would do everything within its capacity to facilitate the successful participation of the Kano delegation at the WPRF.
He described the forum as an important platform for public relations practitioners to exchange ideas, examine emerging trends and strengthen the profession in line with contemporary demands.
The Governor also pledged to allocate a plot of land for the construction of a permanent secretariat for the Kano State Council of NIPR, describing the initiative as part of the government’s commitment to strengthening professional institutions and creating an enabling environment for public relations practitioners to operate effectively.
Governor Yusuf further assured journalists and media practitioners working in Kano of the continued commitment of his administration to their safety, welfare and professional development.

According to him, the Kano State Government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting journalists and media practitioners through various interventions, including capacity-building programmes, provision of working equipment and support for their welfare and healthcare, among other initiatives.
The Governor urged journalists in the state to uphold professional standards and ethical principles in the discharge of their responsibilities, particularly in the rapidly changing digital media environment.
He also called on media practitioners to make effective and responsible use of social media platforms in promoting good governance, accountability, peace and development, while ensuring that information disseminated to the public meets established professional standards.
Earlier, a former member of the National Executive Council of the NIPR, Professor Sule Ya’u Sule, explained that the delegation visited the Governor to formally brief him about the forthcoming World Public Relations Forum and the objectives of the international gathering.
He said the 2026 WPRF would provide an opportunity to review and re-examine the concept and practice of public relations in light of emerging trends, technological developments and the changing communication landscape.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Kano State Council of NIPR, Malam Aliyu Yusuf, congratulated Governor Yusuf on the multiple awards he has received in recognition of his administration’s transformation efforts in Kano State.
He disclosed that the Kano State Council was considering conferring a Patronship on Governor Yusuf in recognition of his support for the council and his commitment to the development of the public relations and media profession in the state.
