The National Security Adviser, NSA to President Bola Tinubu, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has been urged to intervene in an alleged irregularities that marred the recent senatorial election in the Adamawa Central senatorial zone.
A group of Adamawa state business women support group for president Bola Tinubu’s, re-relection made this appeal at a press conference in Yola on Thursday stressing that the NSA is a respected stakeholder from the zone and need to act fast with a view to entrench internal democracy amongst the ruling All progressives Congress APC and his political home base.
Spokesperson and leader of the group Hajiya Blikisu Mohammed Song, said that if the NSA left the Adamawa central senatorial zone crisis unresolved it may affect the fortunes of the All progressive Congress APC in zone especially with the 2027 general elections by the corner.
“Ribadu we are begging you as mothers, because we don’t want mr. President to lose one vote in the Adamawa central senatorial zone, because of the injustice going on in the zone if you failed to address the injustice we will blame you.
“We are mothers to Mustapha Salihu and all other contestants, but we should defend justice for development and peace, as women we suffered most when there is both political and physical crises in the country or worldwide”, she said.
Blikisu faulted the adoption of former national vice chairman of the APC in charge of North East zone, Comrade Mustapha Salihu noting that his candida cy raised questions on the fairness and transparency in Adamawa state APC.
” We follow Mustapha Salihu throughout the 21 local governments for campaign for governor, but embrassingly, we were told that Mustapha Salihu is a senatorial candidate for central zone, because this is mockery of democracy and our party APC and the president’s zero tolerance for injustice, “she said.
Bilkisu reminded Ribadu being the main political leader for the party in the state on the urgent need to bring the senatorial candidate to Yola-north and declared Alhaji Aliyu Abbati Abdul- hameed, as the senatorial candidate of the zone.
” All the local governments in Adamawa central has produced senators, only Yola-north which has the highest voters has not produced a senator.
” Yola-south produced senator Aishatu Binani, Song local government produced late senator Jibrin Aminu, Fufore local government produced senator Bello Tukur, Girei local government produced senator Abubakar Girei, Hong local government produced senator Aminu Abbas, who is a serving senator and he is not contesting again.
” Mustapha Salihu is also from Hong local government, so how can we vote for injustice, no, our leader Ribadu intervene before our great party crash out of the 2027 general elections “she said.
Our correspondent reported that Abbati is the immediate past Managing Director of NIRSAl plc, a subsidiary of central bank of Nigeria,who contested with six other contenders before the election was halted and later Comrade Salihu was adopted as the senatorial candidate for the Adamawa Central senatorial zone
Some political analysts in the state have registered their dismay with the way and manner Comrade Salihu was adopted and declared as candidate for the zone under a disgusting and detestable approach.
