The Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), in collaboration with Insight for Transformation and Development Initiative (ITDI), and Konrad – Adenauer – Stiftung (KAS) held its 25th Conflict Management Seminar/Workshop in Lagos. Experts called for the whole of government and whole of society approaches to tackling the security challenges bedeviling the country.
The call was made at the end of the 2-days seminar and workshop with the theme: “Enhancing National Security through Driving Commitment and Active Participation of Stakeholders” which was held at the Ogomudia Hall, NACOLM Moloney Campus Lagos from 4-5 May 2026.
The Commandant NACOLM, Major General Adewale Collins Adetoba, in his remarks, said the workshop which focuses conflict management and emotional intelligence was aimed at building the skills and competences of participants in the management of conflict in society. He asserted that members of security agencies must muster the skills to negotiate, mediate, and resolve conflict for the growth of society and adequate law enforcement.
The Commandant disclosed that the workshop aligned closely with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu Command Philosophy which is to “Advance the Transformation of the Nigerian Army into a more Professional, Adaptable, Combat Ready and Resilient Force Capable of Decisively Discharging its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment.” He further appreciated the COAS for the giving the College the mandate to host the workshop. Major General Adetoba also expressed gratitude to the co-sponsors, facilitators, and participants of the seminar for their well researched presentations and meaningful deliberations.
Also, speaking at the event, Executive Director ITDI, Dr. Rotimi Mathew disclosed that the evolving nature of conflict in contemporary society requires synergy and collaboration of all stakeholders. He described the current security threats in Nigeria as one that is diverse, interconnected, and transcending geographical boundaries.
The Seminar/Workshop drew participants from the Nigerian Armed Forces, Nigerian Police, Nigeria Immigration Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
The Deputy Commandant, Director of Studies NACOLM Brigadier General Sylvester Anyogo, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the workshop, called for active involvement of all citizens and security forces as a crucial move to addressing the contemporary security challenges confronting Nigeria.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of scenario based conflict management case studies to participants who solved the tasks in their various syndicates and presented their solutions for further discussion by the facilitators.
