The Nigerian Army School of Infantry (NASI) on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, received a delegation of participants and directing staff from the National Higher Military School, Porto-Novo, Republic of Benin, who were on a strategic study tour to Nigeria aimed at enhancing professional military education, regional security cooperation and operational understanding.

Addressing the delegation, the Commandant NASI, Major General Frank Sunday Etim, stated that the school is cardinal to the training of Nigerian Army personnel on all aspects of Infantry manoeuver. He noted that NASI also provides specialized training for personnel of sister services, paramilitary organizations and allied security institutions. The Commandant emphasized that robust military cooperation and strategic synergy among neighbouring countries remain indispensable in combating contemporary security threats, particularly terrorism, insurgency, and transnational crimes.
The Commandant further charged the participants to approach the study tour with utmost professionalism and commitment, stressing that the engagements would provide invaluable insights capable of shaping their leadership capacities and military careers. He encouraged them to actively participate in discussions and seek clarifications where necessary.
In his remarks, the Head of Delegation and Commandant of the National Higher Military School, Republic of Benin, Lieutenant Colonel Olou Jean, disclosed that the study tour forms part of the academic requirements for participants of Command and Staff Course 22. He explained that the tour theme was “The Architecture for Elite Training in the Face of Contemporary Security Challenges. Lieutenant Colonel Olou expressed profound appreciation to the Commandant NASI for the warm reception and lauded the quality of presentations, practical demonstrations and interactive sessions which greatly enriched the participants’ learning experience.
Earlier, the Training Team Leader and Chief Instructor, Special Warfare Wing, Colonel Mohammed Marwa, delivered a detailed presentation titled “Special Forces Training at the Nigerian Army School of Infantry” and highlighted NASI’s pivotal role in producing highly skilled, mission-ready and combat-capable Special Forces personnel for deployment across various operational theatres in Nigeria. He further traced the evolution of Airborne operations in the Nigerian Army and provided an overview of the history, mandate and strategic contributions of NASI to national security.
The high points of the visit included an institutional presentation by NASI, a guided tour of key training facilities, live demonstrations at the Airborne Wing, exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph.
