The Chief of Training, Nigerian Army, Major General V. U. Okoro, has reiterated the Army’s commitment to continuous training and retraining of its personnel to maintain professional standards and operational effectiveness.
Major General Okoro stated this at the opening of the 2026 Training Workshop of the Nigerian Army School of Legal Services, NASLS, at Basawa, Zaria.
He described the annual workshop as a platform for participants from the Armed Forces, security agencies, the judiciary, academia and other professional bodies to exchange knowledge and strengthen their capacity in legal and investigative matters.
The Chief of Training noted that insecurity remains a major threat to Nigeria’s peace and development, with its effects extending beyond the battlefield to communities, places of worship and homes.
He stressed that the Armed Forces remain a key pillar of Nigeria’s security architecture, while emphasizing that collaboration with other security agencies and regional partners, within the framework of the rule of law, is essential to tackling insecurity.
