    TeCETEL Concludes Training for Student-Teachers on Digital Teaching Practice, Unveils One Week, One Digital Tool Workshop

    The TETFund Centre of Excellence for Technology Enhanced Learning (TeCETEL), Federal University of Education, Zaria, has concluded a training workshop for student-teachers on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Classroom Practice.

    This was contained in a statement signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy, media aide to the VC, issued to newsmen.

    It said the training, themed “The Digital Teacher: Enhancing Classroom Teaching Practice with AI & EdTech,” was designed to equip student-teachers with modern digital teaching and learning skills and enable them to effectively integrate technology and digital tools into classroom activities.

    In his welcome address, the Director of TeCETEL, Prof. Ilesanmi Ajibola, welcomed participants and guests to the closing ceremony. He explained that the Centre had organised the training for students undertaking teaching practice, with participants carefully selected for the programme.

    He appreciated the University Management and TETFund for providing the necessary support and incentives to enable the student-teachers to participate effectively in the capacity-building programme.

    Prof. Ajibola noted that the Centre organises the programme annually as part of its efforts to promote the University’s vision of leveraging digital technologies to enhance teaching and learning.

    He added that the training had equipped students undertaking teaching practice with technology-driven teaching methods and practical knowledge on the effective use of digital tools in classroom activities. He disclosed that the training was followed by supervision of the participants in their respective teaching practice schools.

    The Director further disclosed that the Centre was also unveiling its “One Week, One Digital Tool” workshop, a hands-on 10-week professional development programme designed for lecturers, researchers and academic administrators.

    In his opening remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Prof. Kabiru Haruna Danja, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, commended TeCETEL on the successful completion of the training and congratulated the students for being among the selected participants.

    Prof. Danja urged the participants to make effective use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the training and to share their experiences with colleagues who did not have the opportunity to participate in the programme.

    He subsequently flagged off the One Week, One Digital Tool workshop of the Centre.

    In her closing remarks, the Deputy Director of TeCETEL, Dr. Ramatu Nuru Asabe, thanked the University Management for providing the students with the opportunity to participate in the programme.

    She encouraged the participants to always put in their best and uphold the knowledge and skills acquired wherever they find themselves.

    Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the participants, Habiba Aminu and Aminu Khamis appreciated TeCETEL and the University for providing them with the opportunity and platform to learn, improve and strengthen their teaching skills.

    They pledged to reflect the experience and knowledge gained from the training in their classroom teaching practice.

    The Centre presented envelopes of incentivesto the students as support.
