The Army Central Ammunition Depot Agunu (ACADA) held the graduation ceremony of its maiden Basic Ammunition Storeman Course on Friday, 25 September 2026. The Special Guest of Honour, the Corps Commander Ordnance, Major General AG Ibrahim, was represented by the Director Equipment Procurement, Army Headquarters Department of Army Policy and Plans, Brigadier General M Isah.
The four-week course, which commenced on 31 August 2026, was organised in response to lapses in ammunition handling, storage, accounting and management observed during technical inspections of formations and units. It combined classroom instruction with practical training to prepare participants for ammunition duties at unit level.
In his welcome address, the Commander ACADA described the maiden course as an important milestone in the Depot’s contribution to professional training. He thanked the Chief of Army Staff for approving its conduct at ACADA and the Corps Commander Ordnance for his guidance and support. He also acknowledged the formations and units that released personnel for the course and commended the instructors and supporting staff.
Addressing the pioneer graduates, the Commander urged them to apply their training with discipline, accuracy and strict regard for safety. He charged them to be worthy ambassadors of ACADA and to share their knowledge in their respective units.
In his remarks, the Corps Commander Ordnance said the training aligned with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy of building a more professional, adaptable, combat-ready and resilient force. He noted that proper storage and preservation help keep ammunition serviceable, while accurate records support forecasting, replenishment and timely supply for operations. He urged the graduates to comply with ammunition safety regulations and commended all who contributed to the course.
The Commandants of the Nigerian Army School of Artillery and the Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology, as well as the Commander 1 Division Ordnance Services, were represented at the ceremony. The Commanding Officers of the Nigerian Army Training Centre Kachia (NATCK) and 305 Demonstration Regiment were also in attendance.
The graduation ceremony was followed by a send-off for the Depot’s retiring Regimental Sergeant Major. The Commander ACADA presented souvenirs to the representative of the Special Guest of Honour and other dignitaries, after which they took a group photograph with the graduates.
Thereafter, the guests were entertained at the ACADA Officers’ Mess, where they witnessed the decoration of the newly promoted Captain RE Salima and a send-off for the Depot’s Principal Ammunition Technical Officer. The visit concluded with a group photograph and tree planting by the representative of the Special Guest of Honour.
