The Acting Commander Sector 4 Operation Hadin Kai/ Commander 23 Brigade (Ag Comd Sect 4 OPHK/Comd 23 Bde) Brigadier General Amechi Agwu has reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of the Corps Members and other residents of Gibson Jalo Cantonment Yola.
A statement signed by Captain Olusegun Abidoye acting assistant director army public relations sector 4 operation hadin Kai/ 23 brigade said Brigadier General Agwu made this known during the commissioning of the newly renovated Corpers’ Lodge at the cantonment on Thursday 23 April 2026.
The Ag Comd Sect 4 OPHK/Comd 23 Bde said the renovation is in line with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Command Philosophy – “To Advance the Transformation of the Nigerian Army into a More Professional, Adaptable, Combat Ready and Resilient Force Capable of Decisively Discharging its Constitutional Responsibilities Within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment”. He added that the provision of a conducive accommodation for the Corpers would impact significantly on the quality of education in the barracks where most of the Corps members tutor children and wards of military personnel in the schools within.
Brigadier General Agwu urged the Corps members to properly manage the lodge, promising more impactful projects to the barracks community.
The Ag Comd Sect 4 OPHK/Comd 23 Bde expressed his sincere gratitude to the COAS for his continued support to the Sector/ Brigade, emphasizing the impact of the support on the morale and fighting spirit of the soldiers.
In his vote of thanks, the Corper Liaison Officers, Mr Nansel Vangvang who is one of the beneficiaries of the renovated Lodge acknowledged the commitment of the Commander to the welfare of the Corps members, saying the effort is beyond a renovation but a show of compassion, care and dignity for the Corps members.
It would be recalled that a whirlwind destroyed the Corpers Lodge in 2025 which caused them to abandon the Lodge.
The newly renovated Corpers’ Lodge has a total number of 20 Rooms.
