The Acting Corps Commander Education, Brig Gen Yushau Dogara Ahmed, has called on Commandants of Command Secondary Schools (CSSs) to sustain high academic standards, uphold discipline and strengthen moral values among students to produce responsible, patriotic and exemplary future leaders.
A statement signed by Captain Abdullahi Lawal Osabo, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, HQ NAEC, Lagos said Brig Gen Ahmed made this call during an assessment tour of CSSs within 6 and 82 Divisions’ Areas of Responsibility, conducted from 8 to 11 July 2026. The tour forms part of ongoing efforts to reposition the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC) for enhanced service delivery in line with the COAS’ Command Philosophy. The assessment was aimed at evaluating the state of educational infrastructure, inspecting ongoing AHQ/NAEC Intervention Projects and identifying challenges affecting effective teaching and learning across the schools.
During the tour, the Acting Corps Commander Education (Ag CC Edn), visited Command Science Secondary School (CSSS) Efa-Etinan, Akwa Ibom State, CSSS Port Harcourt, CSSS Ebedebiri, Bayelsa State and CSS Mbiri, Delta State. Other Command Schools visited were CSS Orba, CSS Mpu and Command Day Secondary School (CDSS) Enugu, Enugu State as well CSS Abakaliki, Ebonyi State and CSS Ohafia, Abia State.
He inspected critical facilities, including classrooms, students’ hostels, dining halls, science laboratories, ICT/CBT centres, libraries and other educational infrastructure. He also inspected ongoing AHQ/NAEC Intervention Project involving the construction of a CBT Centre at CDSS Enugu. At the various schools, the Ag CC Edn was briefed by respective school Commandants on their achievements, ongoing initiatives and challenges requiring intervention.
Addressing the Commandants and members of the Nigerian Army Civilian Staff, Brig Gen Ahmed commended their dedication and encouraged them to remain committed to maintaining discipline, promoting academic excellence and fostering sound moral values among students. He stressed that Command Schools must continue to provide a conducive learning environment that nurtures disciplined, innovative and patriotic young Nigerians capable of contributing meaningfully to national development
As part of efforts to strengthen Civil-Military Cooperation, Brig Gen YD Ahmed also paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Ogu-Bolo LGA, Rivers State, Chief Hon Barr Vincent Nemieboka to appreciate the Council’s continued support for CSSS Port Harcourt. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining quality education and improving learning facilities across Command Schools nationwide.
The assessment tour underscores the NA’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its educational institutions through effective leadership, improved infrastructure and sustained investment in quality education, thereby ensuring that CSSs remain centres of academic excellence, character development and national service.
Highlights of the visit included the presentation of souvenirs, a group photograph and the planting of a commemorative tree at HQ 14 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in company of the Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Ahmad Mansur Dikko.
