Stakeholders have expressed optimism with the integrated mobility ecosystem initiative introduced by P-GAT industries to reduce the transportation concerns bedeviling residents in the North East zone and the country at large.
This position was made public during the official unveiling of the ATRaS integrated mobility ecosystem at the 2026 ACTORS mobility Transition Summit held in Numa n local government area of Adamawa state weekend.
The initiative is designed to tackle the region’s transportation challenges through an integrated mobility system that combines transport services, infrastructure development, asset ownership and sustainable energy solutions.
Speaking at the summit, National president, Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria, ISPON.Engineer Timothy Iwuagwo said that the initiative is a good idea taken at the right time in an effort ease transportation concerns.
Engineer Iwuagwo opined that the concept will provide job opportunities for thousands of our teeming youth calling on both public and private sectors to as a matter of utmost importance embrace the platform with a view to uplifting the economic and social statues of their people.
“This project is a good step or platform in addressing the huge unemployment challenge which I am urging the public and private sectors to key in to transform the lives of our teeming youths in the country”. Iwuagwo stressed.
In a goodwill message, Technical Adviser to the Borno state Investment Promotion Agency, Dr. Nafisa Bukar, said the North-East requires integrated transport and logistics systems to address the challenges of long distances and high logistics costs.
Bukar noted that the ATRaS Mobility Ecosystem has the potential to connect people, markets and investment opportunities across the region while stimulating economic activities pledging that Borno state will soon invite P-BAT firm for further partnership.
Adamawa State Commissioner for Transport Development, Permanent Secretary said mobility has become a key driver of economic inclusion and prosperity in the global space observing that efficient and affordable means of transport can never be over emphasized
Represented by the permanent secretary Hamidu Njidda, the commissioner said that the advent of the electric means of transport will reduce usage of oil and gas and will determines access to jobs, education, healthcare and financial opportunities, making integrated mobility systems essential for sustainable development.
Earlier in his keynote address at the summit, Chairman and President of the P-BAT industries Ltd. Mr. Prime Timothy expressed gratitude with the turn out of the participants for the summit stressing that the initiative was meant to reduce the cost of transportation on residents which has become a serious burden.
Timothy explained that the initiative will provide one hundred thousand direct and indirect job opportunities to the teeming youth in the North East zone and will also reduce transport fees by 50% which has remain critical in enhancing the prod uctivity and quality of lives of Nigerians.
Timothy emphasized that, high cost of transportation has become a major economic burden on households and businesses, affecting workers, students and traders across the country which informed ATRaS ecosystem developme nt for practical solutions to persistent mobility challenges.
He added that after more than five years of research and planning then this idea was established to tackle the challenge headlong.
”Transportation challenges affect every one. Whether you use public transport or not, the high cost impacts your daily life. It has reduced productivity, and in some cases, people have even resigned from their jobs due to transport costs.
”Our target is simple. If you currently spend ₦100 on transportation, we want to bring it down to ₦50. If you spend ₦1,000, we want to reduce it to ₦500,” he stated.
He noted that, the project is expected to enhance economic activities by making the movement of people and goods more affordable and efficient providing
access to productive assets for individuals, families and institutions, enabling participants to generate income and improve their economic standing.
Our correspondent reported that Organisers of the summit disclosed that each participating state under the programme has been allocated 1,500 units for implementation, with arrangements already in place for interested states to commence preliminary agreements.
