In furtherance of efforts to strengthen community policing and enhance strategic collaboration in the fight against crime, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command today, Friday, 7th August 2026, received members of the National Executive of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), alongside the Akwa Ibom State PCRC Chairman and Executive Members, on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Baba Mohammed Azare fsi, MNIPR.
A statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Timfon John said the visit provided an avenue for meaningful engagement on strengthening the existing partnership between the Nigeria Police Force and the PCRC towards promoting public safety, improving operational efficiency, and advancing community-oriented policing initiatives across the State.
It said a major highlight of the visit was the presentation of a professional camera to the Akwa Ibom State Police Command by the PCRC. The donation, made in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+) NPM, and the recommendation of the PCRC National Chairman, is aimed at enhancing the Command’s public relations, documentation, and strategic communication capabilities, while supporting effective information management and public engagement.
Speaking during the visit, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, Mnipr expressed profound appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+) NPM, for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening community policing and fostering strategic partnerships that enhance operational effectiveness across Commands.
He also conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the leadership of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for the thoughtful donation, describing it as a demonstration of the shared commitment to advancing professionalism, transparency, and effective policing.
The Commissioner assured that the equipment would be judiciously deployed to enhance the Command’s public relations, documentation, and strategic communication efforts in the overall interest of public safety.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the PCRC National representative, Amb. Mary Joseph reiterated the Committee’s commitment to complementing the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force through sustained partnership, advocacy, and community engagement programmes designed to foster peace, security, and public confidence.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains committed to building stronger partnerships with communities, civil society organizations, and all relevant stakeholders in its continued pursuit of a safer and more secure Akwa Ibom State.
