The Chairman of the Awqaf Organisation of Nigeria (AWQAFON), Dr Miswaru Bello, has led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUEZ), Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure.
This was contained in a statement signed by Sani Lawal Maqarphy Media aide to the VC issued to newsmen.
Others on the delegation included Lawan Yahaya Fage, Esq.; Dr Musa Abdullahi; and Mal. Abdulmajid Rabiu Koki.
The visit according to the Chairman was to inform the Vice-Chancellor of the forthcoming fifth edition of the International Waqf Conference, scheduled to take place in November 2026 at Bayero University, Kano.
Dr Bello said the biennial conference would mark the tenth year since its inception, noting that three of the previous editions were held at Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kano, during Prof. Bunkure’s tenure as Provost and later as Vice-Chancellor of the institution following its upgrade to a university.
He explained that the visit was also to appreciate Prof. Bunkure’s contributions to the organisation and successful hosting of the previous conferences, including the provision of facilities and internet connectivity that enabled participants to access the proceedings globally.
Dr Bello further informed the Vice-Chancellor that AWQAFON had brought books, journals and other scholarly materials for donation to the University library, particularly in the areas of Islamic Studies, Accounting and Law.
Responding, Prof. Bunkure appreciated the delegation for the visit and the gesture towards partnering with the University.
He also expressed his appreciation for the educational materials donated to the University, noting their potential value to teaching, learning and research.
