    British scholar visits ABU for collaboration on earth science

    A British Professor of Geology, Prof Adrian Muxworthy, has visited Ahmadu Bello University, for collaboration on earth science.

    A statement from the public affairs directorate office of the VC said he was received today, Wednesday, 5th August, 2026.

    Receiving the guest, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Adamu Ahmed, expressed delight for having the British scholar around.

    Prof Ahmed, ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Prof Bello Sabo, said ABU, being one of the leading institutions in the Sub-saharan Africa, would continue to promote research activities.

    The Vice-Chancellor thanked Prof Adrian for the visit and wished him a successful stay in ABU.

    Earlier in his remarks, the Head, Department of Geology, Prof Ibrahim Hamidu, said the scholar was in ABU for collaboration with his department and that of Archeology.

    The HOD expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for the warm hospitality accorded the guest.

    Also speaking, Prof Adrian Muxworthy said he discovered in his area of research “a gap in this part of the world which needs to be filled”.

    Prof Adrian reiterated that ABU being one of the leading universities in Nigeria and Africa as a whole is the best place to carry out the task.

    The British scholar appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for the warm reception.

    Prof M K Aliyu, Department of Archeology and Dr Rabiu Abubakar, Department of Geology were present at the courtesy call.

    Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Ibrahim Sani Kaita,was also there.
